چکیده

A60-year-old dentist presents to the emergency room with palpitations for 3 hours. The ECG shows atrial flutter (AFl) with atrioventricular (AV) conduction varying from 2:1 to 4:1. He has known hypertension for which he takes 10 mg of enalapril daily. In the last 2 years he was seen twice because of AFl and on both occasions 1 mg of ibutilide IV resulted in the return of sinus rhythm with 1:1 AV conduction. Catheter ablation of the arrhythmia is discussed with the patient, to which he agrees and curative AFl ablation is scheduled in 4 weeks.

The Improvement of the Atrial Flutter Rhythm upon the Removal of the Infected Permanent Pacemaker Lead

Pacemaker infection has multiple risk factors. Its presentation is most often similar to infected endocarditis and the diagnosis is made through studying blood cultures. Transesophageal echocardiography can confirm the diagnosis. The most common microorganisms are staphylococcus speciesis. As a matter of fact, complete pacemaker removal appears to be the only definite treatment. We presented a ...

A Case Report of Neonatal Atrial Flutter with Poor Feeding and Tachypnea

Background: Arrhythmias in neonates are not common and usually affect newborns with a normal heart or those that suffer from structural heart disease. A malignant type of arrhythmias is supraventricular tachycardia. Meanwhile, one uncommon type of supraventricular arrhythmias is atrial flutter (AFL), which is founded upon reentry mechanisms in the atrium. The AFL may result in heart failure or ...

[Differentiating between atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation using right atrial bipolar endocardial signals].

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES Contemporary atrial pacemakers incorporate pacing modes for treating atrial arrhythmias. Because atrial fibrillation in the right atrium can exhibit an organized pattern, it can be difficult to differentiate from atrial flutter. We assessed criteria for discriminating between atrial flutter and organized atrial fibrillation when using a bipolar electrode in the right...

Atrial tachyarrhythmias in infants.

This report describes clinical features and tactics of treatment of atrial tachyarrhythmias in infancy. Electrophysiologic study was performed in all 20 infants (2 weeks - 12 months old) in order to determine the mechanism of arrhythmia and to predict the clinical efficacy of management. Reciprocating mechanism was revealed in 12 infants. Atrial flutter was diagnosed for 10 infants among whom o...
